 Different category of awards from AFSIB for the year 2017

 

 

1. Young Scientist Award: The forum is providing an opportunity to research scholars and scientists below the age of 35 (as on 31st July 2017) working in the field of fisheries, aquaculture/ related disciplines to compete for the young scientist award. There are up to a maximum of 10 young scientist awards instituted by the AFSIB. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3000/- and a citation

2. Prof. H.P.C Shetty Award: The triennial award for excellence in fisheries research and development is instituted by Prof. H.P.C Shetty Felicitation Committee. The applicant should be below 50 years as on 31st July 2017. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-, a medallion and an invitation to deliver keynote address at the forum.

3. Professors T.J. Pandian and A.J. Matty Award: The triennial award is instituted for recognizing excellence in aquaculture development through research. Applicant should be below 45 years as on 31st July 2017. Work should have been carried out preferably in India. Award carries a cash prize of Rs 15,000/-, a medallion and an invitation to deliver keynote address at the forum.

4. Dr. Pillay Aquaculture Award: The Pillay Aquaculture Foundation has instituted a triennial Pillay Aquaculture Award, in memory of late Dr. T.V.R. Pillay, the father of modern global aquaculture development. Outstanding work on any aspect of aquaculture (research/ extension/ development) carried out in India by an individual, group or organization (government or private) shall qualify for the award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000/- and a citation. The awardee is required to deliver keynote address on his/her work during the 11th Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum.

Applications (in quintuplicate) for all the above awards on the prescribed form (to bedown loaded from the AFSIB website www.afsib.in) should reach the Secretary latest by 31st August 2017. Those in service should route their applications through proper channel.

5. Shri J.V.H. Dixitulu National Award for Outstanding work in Fisheries Extension / Communication :  The Association of Aquaculturists (based in Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar), Marine Biological Association of India (MBAI - based in Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi) and the Inland Fisheries Society of India (IFSI - based in Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore), have instituted in 2010, Shri J.V.H. Dixitulu Award to recognize outstanding contributions in the field of fisheries extension / communication in India. The Award will be given during the triennial Indian Fisheries Aquaculture Forum organized by the AFSIB. The award will be presented during the 11th Indian Fisheries Forum at Kochi. The award will carry a memento, citation and cash award of Rs 15,000/-. Nominations/applications are invited from individuals / institutions / NGOs describing in detail the contribution(s) made with evidence of impact of interventions. The application should be sent to The Convener of the J.V.H. Dixitulu Award – The President, MBAI, CMFRI Campus, Post Box No. 1604, Kochi -682 018, Kerala, India. The selected individual (or representative of the group, or institution) will be given travel grant for presentation of a paper based on their contribution. The last date for receiving applications by the President of MBAI is August 31,2017.

 

6. Dr M C Nandeesha award for Innovative fish farmer :The innovative fish farmer award will be given to fish farmers/ aqua-culturists for the innovation in aquaculture. The innovation should help in improving the productivity of culture system. The innovations claimed by farmers should be endorsed by Head of ICAR Central Research Institutes / Head of KVK / Dean or Head of Fisheries Colleges. Farmers innovation work can also be nominated by ICAR Institutes/ Head of KVK / Scientists of ICAR Institutes or Faculty of Fisheries Colleges through the Head of Institute. The award will carry a memento, citation and cash award of Rs 25,000/.The last date for receiving applications by the President of MBAI is August 31,2017.
